The Brief

Imprint Films was approached at the end of May 2024 to work alongside three Masters students for their final project at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London. As part of their course, they were tasked with not only acting in the project, but also taking positions as Writer, Director and Producer to experience making their own work. Therefore, this was a different experience for Imprint from our previous work and involved us sitting alongside an existing concept and team, fulfilling production requirements alongside someone else's creative vision.

Shot - July 2024

Location - Bollington

Delivered - August 2024

The Pitch

‘My Last Day With Dad’ is a short film following three step-brothers from different backgrounds on the day of their adoptive father’s funeral. Married and business driven, Oscar is the most forthright of the three, spending his days in the City working on global financial deals. Middle-child Leon is a dreamer. Unsure on what he wants out of life, he has taken as many opportunities to see the world, rather than focus on what’s in front of him. Finally Tom, the youngest, shyest of the three, he never left his Dad’s side through his fight with illness and the last days of his life. Now, all back home for the first time in years, will their grief unite a broken family, or damage them beyond repair?

The shoot was to take place across 2 days in July 2024 at the family house of the Producer Justin.

Once Justin the Producer approached us, our first tasks were to attend a location recce and put our crew together. Luckily, we had a wide network of professionals in the North who we could call on - so gathered a team mainly made up of people we had worked with on our previous projects.

We completed the entire pre-production process including bespoke risk assessments, call sheets and budgeted the entire product to fit with the client’s facilities. Luke in his position as DOP completed the shot list with Director Georgie. Following that, we both put together a detailed schedule to complete the 47 shots across the tight 2 days shooting time we had to play with.

John took on the role of Assistant Director for the shoot, while assisting Director Georgie, Producer Justin and our DOP Luke in any way possible in a production capacity.

Following conclusion of the shoot, we oversaw the entire edit, colour grade and sound design, to deliver the product in time to be sumitted for the actors’ Masters Course at Royal Central.

  Client Testimonial

Justin Kendal-Sadiq - Actor / Producer

I called Imprint Films having unexpectedly been asked to join a short film project as a Producer, tasked with only a few weeks until the shoot and a heavy amount of pre-production to complete.

I spoke to John who listened intently as I broke down the projects: concept, timeline and targets after an initial conversation and an agreement for Imprint Films to join us across the entire pre production, production and post process he came back to me the following day having confirmed our entire budget and crew.

I’ve genuinely never seen a team more, talented, dedicated and passionate about their work. What they made possible was beyond what I could have imagined when I took on this project and allowed me as a producer to focus on the overall quality product while they assisted with all other facets of the production.

I’m very glad I chose to call Imprint Films and integrate them across the entire process of making our film.

Having worked on a BAFTA winning TV set for three years and with brands such as Marvel and Coca Cola for international campaigns working with Imprint was absolutely indistinguishable from these experiences. They truly are at the top of their field.
